As a Portfolio Manager with TD Wealth Private Investment Counsel I have the privilege to spend time and learn about what's most important to my clients and tailoring a holistic plan to help them and their loved ones reach their goals.
I have been in the financial services industry for over 14 years, all of which have been with TD. I started my career as a part time teller while attending post-secondary, progressing on to sales and advice roles and eventually in August 2011 I made the switch to TD Wealth. The main reason for the change was because I wanted to have the time, knowledge, and ability to really get to know my clients and truly look after their financial well-being; I believed moving to Private Investment Counsel would let me do just that. I obtained the CFA charter shortly thereafter, the most difficult and grueling exams I have ever taken, because I believe having the right education is a requirement to providing truly helpful advice.
In my role as a Portfolio Manager I spend time to understand what is important to a client and their family, work with them to create a bespoke solution to help achieve these goals. A risk managed and tailored portfolio is part of the solution but I work closely with our Wealth Advisory Services team, a group of in-house specialists from lawyers to accountants to estate planners, to help our clients look after all the other pieces of their financial picture. I believe all the pieces, such as tax planning, retirement planning, will and estate reviews, philanthropic wishes, should all work together to ensure the client is well looked after. This has given my clients the peace of mind to do things that matters most to them, whether it's travelling, building their business, spending time with family, etc.
I am a born and raised Edmonton. I'm Chinese- Canadian and speak Cantonese fluently. I sit on a not-for-profit committee as a chair looking after finance and endowment growth opportunities. In my spare time I enjoy travelling with my husband, reading, and trying new food around the city and the world.
